With the government's "gamble" in Iraq costing more than $5 billion every month, future generations will be paying for this war. Today's tax dollars are building the weapons for the next misguided military adventure.
As the civilian and military deaths pile up in Iraq, more and more people are looking for a stronger way to withdraw their consent. War tax resistance is one powerful form of protest. For many it is something that they must do, because they cannot pay for killing-in this war or any war.
Please join activists with the National War Tax Resistance Gathering and Coordinating Committee Meeting for our semiannual gathering and meeting. Friday evening and Saturday have an informal conference format with workshops and open discussions on a variety of topics, including a basic "how-to" workshop for people who want to know how to get started in war tax resistance. Other sessions will include organizing strategies, peace activities in Las Vegas, and stories of war tax resistance from long time resisters.
The gathering is hosted by Las Vegas Catholic Worker and will be held at Catholic Worker buildings in Las Vegas.
The weekend program and Sunday business meeting are open to everyone with an interest in war tax resistance. Come for the whole weekend or one session-please watch our website or contact us for the schedule in late September.
